Microsoft has released a mandatory update for the Xbox 360 which is free to anyone with an Xbox Live account. This update will apparently prep the console for future games and updates somehow. Go specifics.
Simply logon to Xbox Live to get the update.
Perhaps this will help with their messed up backwards compatibility? One can hope.
