Halo 3: ODST "We are ODST" Live-Action Short

With it's release only a few weeks away, Microsoft Game Studios is stepping up its ad campaign for Halo 3: ODST, the stand-alone expansion set to the Xbox 360's hugely successful shooter, Halo 3. But then of course, you already knew that.

Yesterday, they released an exceptional live-action short entitled "We are ODST," and simply put, it's spectacular. I'll let the short speak for itself, and you can watch it below, here, or download it via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace here.

I don't know about you, but that just got me all fired up. Those are some incredible production values, and it's too bad we're likely to be disappointed with the expansion. Why's that? Well, it was originally going to be priced as an expansion, but with the announcement of the Firefight Co-Op game mode, Microsoft Game Studios announced that Halo 3: ODST is more than enough to qualify as a full retail game and will be priced accordingly. That's full retail price for a short 5 hour Campaign, a new Co-Op multiplayer mode, three new Multiplayer maps, and a few extra weapons.

Sounds like a rip off to me. But wait, it gets better!

According to this post here, the Campaign can actually be completed in about two and a half hours on Normal Difficulty, and Firefight does _not_ feature Matchmaking, meaning you can only play it with those on your Friend's List in Private Games. Well, most of my friends are refusing to buy the "game" at a full $69.99 price tag, so that means I'll have no one to play Firefight with.

So, I'm expected to pay full retail price for a ridiculously short Campaign and three new Multiplayer Maps? Prepare to drop. Your standards. 'Cause that's what you'll be doing if you buy this "game" and all of the above proves accurate.

At least we can watch this kick ass video for free over and over again.
